I was in a pawnshop on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn, probably around 2003, looking through cds and I spotted this. It looked interesting. Can't say that I fully appreciated bluegrass at that time. Gave it a quick listen, thought it was good and put it on a shelf.Over the last few years, I have become a big fan of this style of music. I found this in my collection, March 2013, and thought I'd give a listen.It is great!I say it is unsung, because I'd say these guys are not so very well known to the more casual fans.Vassar Clements is of course a well known fiddler, but the other guys, while top guys, I'd have to guess are more known among more deeply interested bluegrass fans.The songs, vocals and picking are extremely good.Jim Eanes is the lead vocalist. Bobby Atkins is an excellent banjo picker; his son Mark is a very strong mandolin player.This is available here on amazon real cheap. I'd recommend it very highly. It stands up with the best bluegrass. It is also so cool to find something, discover something that is unusual and unknown.These guys are great and deserve more recognition, but bluegrass, like blues and jazz, is not the most popular form of music. I find it to be a treasure hunt with loads of buried treasures for our discovery and enjoyment.
